Types of solar panels

At Solaris we use different types of solar panels. These types are monocrystalline, polycrystalline, amorphous (thin film) and glass-glass.

Different solar panels

We use a number of different solar panels, described here:

  • Monocrystalline: These solar panels contain single-crystal solar cells made of silicon. The monocrystalline solar panels are smooth black/dark blue and have the highest efficiency. Despite being slightly more expensive, it is the best choice for houses with a small roof. The return is very high because less m2 is needed to still generate a lot of energy.
  • Polycrystalline: The polycrystalline is ideal for large surfaces and is cheaper than the monocrystalline. These panels have a blue color and are made of silicon. Because it contains several crystals, the yield is lower than the monocrystalline. Nevertheless, it is recommended to use polycrystalline panels for large surfaces because the purchase costs are lower.

Pricing

This is an example of up to 15 panels, the price may vary depending on your roof and its position north, east, south, west.

We are a specialized and certified company in assembling constructions, panels, inverters and connecting to the meter cupboard.

  • Amorphous (thin film): The Amorph solar panels do not contain crystals. But that makes them very flexible and very suitable for vehicles and vessels. Because they give the least return of the four types, they are less suitable for a home.
  • Glass-glass: Glass-glass solar panels are the latest development. These panels have a longer lifespan and due to the lower degradation they can yield a higher yield. The solar panels have a higher purchase price, but that is well compensated. After 25 years, more kWhs have been generated with glass-glass panels than with the other types. Because the other panels only use 90% capacity after 10 years and only 80% capacity after 20 years, the glass-glass solar panels can generate more revenue in the long term.

Private use

Investing in solar panels yields more return than the interest on your savings. The efficiency of solar panels is about 10-20% per year. The payback of the purchase, depending on the number of solar panels, is arranged in seven to ten years. Another advantage of solar panels is that you can fix your energy costs for the next 30 years. You can return the energy that you generate too much to the power network for a fee.

With solar panels it is possible to generate your total electricity consumption yourself. You can even see the electricity meter turn back! It is often necessary that your meter cupboard is adjusted. This will be adjusted in one go by the company. The only thing you have to do yourself is to regularly check the leaves of the solar panels. You may sometimes have to clean the solar panels, because if they are dirty, less sunlight is collected and there is less electricity.

You also contribute to a better environment. You are no longer dependent on the fossil fuels, which are still expected to run out at some point.

Another advantage of solar panels on your home is that your home increases in value. The energy label is improving and the monthly costs are lower. This is not only interesting for you, but also for potential buyers. In other words: you earn extra when you sell your home.

It is possible to receive a subsidy from the municipality where you live. This makes it interesting to make the, sometimes quite high, purchase.

Business use

Solar panels are also interesting for business. You often have a larger surface area and you can have more solar panels installed. More solar panels means more efficiency. By using solar panels as an energy source, you can save on your energy bill. Electricity from solar panels is cheaper than electricity from the socket.

In addition, the price of solar panels decreases over the years, you can apply for a subsidy and you can reclaim the VAT. The value of your business premises increases with solar panels. A better energy label and lower monthly costs also make it easier to sell your property later on. This way you earn money if you stay in the property yourself, but also if you decide to sell it. It is also possible to have the solar panels moved with you if a company relocation takes place.

Due to the energy agreement that was established in 2020, entrepreneurs are obliged to make sustainable investments. When you purchase solar panels, you immediately meet the requirements of the energy agreement.
